Coil Cords

Coil Cords are widely ESD in industries that are concerned about static. The primary way to eliminate static from people or objects is to ground them with a special wire called coil cords. These cords are primarily used with wrist straps to ground people but can used widely throughout an EPA. They have a variety of connectors such as snaps, eyelets, banana plugs and alligator clips used to make a physical connection to an object while the other end is connected to a Ground, either directly or through a ground path.  The cords may also have resistors built in for safety purposes.  There are two types of Coil Cords: Single Conductor or Dual Conductor (also called Single Wire or Dual Wire). This refers to how many wires are used as conductors in the cord  - one in single wire and two in dual wire.  In dual wire cords, there a two wires and thus two ground paths. This provides ground redundancy and are used with Constant Monitors. Single Conductor cords only use one wire and are the most widely used.
