The CM300 Single Wire Continuous Monitor Ensures Your ESD Workstation is Static-Safe By Monitoring a Dual Wire Wrist Strap
The Spartan Series CM300 Single Wire Continuous Monitor provide ongoing testing of single wire wrist straps and ESD worksurfaces. The CM300 not only eliminates time consuming wrist strap testing, it removes the danger of wrist straps failing in the field and possibly exposing highly sensitive materials to static. Both audible and visual alarms signal when the wrist straps fail. Enclosed in a durable metal case with built in mounting brackets, the monitors can be installed underneath table tops to save work space. The CM300 series monitors meet or exceed the recommendations of ANSI ESD S20.20 standards.
Why Use Constant Monitors?
ESD Constant Monitors are efficient and effective testing devices. Â Constant monitors reduce production costs by eliminating the time spent on testing wrist straps before each shift. Further savings may be realized by reduced ESD damage from failing wrist straps during the work day.
The first and best line of defense against static damage in manufacturing is grounding the operator with a wrist strap. But the problem with wrist straps is that they wear out over time and must be tested to ensure they are working properly. Traditionally, this is accomplished with a ESD Combo Tester prior to each shift. In practice, this method can be inefficient for organizations with lots of workers. Testing once per day also risks missing failures.
Capacitance Technology
The CM300 Single Wire Continuous Monitor sends out a signal through the wrist strap that detects the capacitance of the person and ground. When both are present, the monitor goes into an unalarmed state. If the electrical connection to the person or to ground should fail, the circuit will go into the alarm state to signal there is a problem.
Calibration
The CM300 constant monitors are factory calibrated and will never need recalibration. It is a fixed resistor system and is go no go, there is no calibration needed. You can verify proper working conditions with the CM410PV  periodic verification.
