ESD Product Verification
Transforming Technologies aims to provide comprehensive product verification guides that help organizations confidently integrate static control solutions into their ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control plans. These guides are designed to ensure that ESD products, such as wrist straps, mats, ionizers, flooring, garments, and monitoring systems, meet industry standards and perform reliably in real-world environments.
The verification guides typically include detailed product specifications, test methods in accordance to industry standards, qualification procedures, and ongoing compliance recommendations. By outlining proper installation, testing frequencies, resistance measurements, and documentation practices, Transforming Technologies enables users to validate that each ESD control item functions within acceptable limits before and after deployment.
In addition, the guides support quality and audit readiness by providing traceability information, calibration recommendations, and performance validation steps. This structured approach helps ESD program managers integrate products seamlessly into their overall control plan, reduce risk of electrostatic damage, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure continuous improvement of their ESD protection program.
Overall, Transforming Technologies’ verification documentation bridges the gap between product purchase and program implementation. This empowers users to confidently deploy ESD solutions that protect sensitive components, maintain compliance, and support long-term operational reliability.
ESD Footwear Product Verification
ESD Footwear is a personnel grounding item that requires daily testing per ANSI 20 20. The footwear can be tested using our PGT120 or PGT130 wrist strap and footwear tester.
Alternatively, you can test the footwear by connecting a test lead to a resistance meter, a handheld probe and a metal plate.
To do this connect one test lead from the resistance meter to the handheld probe.
The other test lead will be connected from the resistance meter to a metal plate.
Place one foot on the foot electrode while the other is not touching the electrode or surrounding flooring.
While the handheld probe is in your hand, start your test.
Compare the reading to the limits in your ESD control plan.
Switch feet and repeat.
ESD Garment Product Verification
The following items may be used for Product verification of a Groundable Static Control Garment System.
The garment can be tested using our PGT120 or PGT130 wrist strap, garment and footwear tester.
Alternatively, you can test the garment by connecting a test lead to a resistance meter, a handheld probe and a coil cord.
Connect one test lead from the resistance meter to the handheld probe.
Next, connect a coil cord to your jacket and connect the banana plug into the resistance meter.
Pickup the handheld probe in one hand and conduct the resistance test.
The required limit is less than 35 megohm for a Groundable Static Control Garment System.
ESD Flooring Product Verification
The following items may be used for Product verification of ESD flooring.
Test the outlet to verify that it is wired correctly.
Connect your test lead from the resistance meter to the AD22 grounding adapter for a secure connection.
Place the probe on the ESD flooring being measured and connect a second test lead from the resistance meter to the probe.
Compare the reading to the limits in your ESD control plan.
ESD Chair Product Verification
The following items may be used for Product verification of ESD chairs.
Test the outlet to verify that it is wired correctly.
Using an AD22 ground adapter will allow for a secure connection for your test lead.
Connect One test lead from the resistance meter to the ground adapter
Next, connect a second test lead from the resistance meter to the probe.
Place the probe on the seat of the ESD chair and start your resistance test.
Compare the reading to the limits in your ESD control plan.
